Jonna Niemenperä has presented the EPIDAL project during the ECDC-meeting in Zagreb as a private person. Thank you, Jonna!
She is a board member of the Dalmatian Club of Finland and has good contacts to dalmatain breeders abroad and owners/breeders of different dog breeds in Finland as well.
Bettina Hutz (owner of two dalmatians) is using her occupational skills as a Biological Research Assistant in easing the communication between the research team and dalmatian owners/breeders and is offering blood donation for free in Helsinki and Turku area. She is working in a pharmaceutical company and her task in daily life is the planing and performance of research studies in the fight against deseases as Parkinson, Shizophrenia, hormone related cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. She is familian with the newest technolgies in genetic research.
Liisa Hällström has been breeding dalmatians since 1994. In the beginning of her breeding career she has been active in the breed club and with her support the so called "5% rule for stud dogs" has been added to the breeding rules. This rule limits the amount of litters per stud dog per year, in order to keep the genetic variation inside the population as high as possible. Job-related she has experience with the problematic of epilepsy in humans and is familian with the scientific terms in Finnish, Swedish and English language.
